Kaleyn
|
She is the result of going through the chart backwards, from Skills
to Gender. The big challenge with her was the fact that she's an equine
type with a beaked mouth. As I was sketching, instead of a normal rounded
nose, I gave it a point, kind of like a dragon's, thus satisfying the beak
requirement. For her wings, I rolled again on the Skin Color table and
came up with blue-green, which I used for her under-wings (though more
on the green side). Her over-wings are a kind of golden reddish tan color.
The sketch lines at the end of her tail looked like a lion's tuft and as many pictures of unicorns show them with a lion like tail and it seemed to suit her, I left them in. I also added knee spikes. She wears a sapphire blue off the shoulder halter top with a silver clasp at the front, a sapphire blue loincloth with silver V-shaped belt, silver hoop earrings (one in her left and two in her right), a silver anklet on her right ankle, silver armband on her left arm, and a silver hoop navel ring. She remained nameless for quite a while before I came up with Kaleyn (3am brainstorm). She's a skilled hunter and tracker as well as an aerobat. Likes children and hatchlings (as long as she can give them back) so frequently helps out with lessons. She's a modern girl, fairly easy going but does have a temper. She has a tendency to go off on her own and hit trees (although any semi resistant object that won't result in an injury worse that sore knuckles, including the odd annoying brother, will do), hates to be called Kali (it's Kaleyn, not Kali!). She has a few close friends but can be a loner. Likes to read and can frequently be found in the library. |
Gender: male Age: adult Build: stocky Type: large herbivore Wing Style: batlike Tail Style: club tipped Skin Color: maroon Hair Style: bald Hair Color: N/A Features: double row of short, knobby scalp bumps Special Skills: performance The result of rolling a large herbivore type with a clubbed tail and scalp bumps. I chose an anklyosaur (they're large herbivores aren't they?). He's a big boy, 6'9" with a stocky build, slight potbelly, heavy club on the end of his tail, armor plating and spikes on his face, and big batlike wings. He is maroon in color with purple and gray shadings, deep crimson (almost black) over-wings and purplish-crimson under-wings. He generally wears a dark brown loincloth with black belt and gold buckle. His name is Edorran. He looks fierce and is a capable warrior but is in reality a big teddy bear. Good natured and can be the life of the party, someone you can't help but like. Loves children and hatchlings, wrestling (though none of his rookery sibs will wrestle with him anymore because he always wins) and football (playing more than watching) but his real passion is singing (he's got a great baritone voice). He's always trying to get anyone with a decent voice together to perform, he even occasionally writes music. |

Gender: male Age: adult Build: lean Type: Gargoyle Beast, winged Wing Style: webbed Tail Style: branching Skin Color: blue-green Hair Style: bald Hair Color: N/A Features: antlers or branching horns Special Skills: N/A |
For him I chose a rabbit like form because a.) there are no small
mammal types on the table and b.) because with his antlers it would make
him a Jackalope. I chose a blue-green color more into the blue spectrom
for him and rolled again on the skin color table and wound up with golden
tan, which I then used for his under-wings.
Gave him pronghorn antelope type antlers in keeping with his Jackalope type. His tail has two short prongs at the tip. As I was sketching, I decided he looked too cute and cuddly, so added saber tooth fangs to make him a bit more intimidating. I've agonized over a name for him and for now he's just called Jack, although Bunnicula has been suggested after the vampire bunny stories. He's small; sitting up the tips of his ears reach a height of 3'0". I decided that due to his small size, he'd make an excellent rookery playmate and guard. Patient beyond belief (you'd have to be to stand having 30 hatchlings pulling on various parts of your anatomy), he will simply get up and hop away when he's had enough roughhousing. Rabbits don't make noise, but he makes an odd assortment of whistles, chirps, and squeaks. He even purrs. The way he's drawn makes me think that someone's just pulled his tail and he's looking back to see who it is and if he needs to make himself scarce. There's no telling what the hatchlings will do to him next! |
Hollyhock Gender: female Age: hatchling Build: average Type: classic Wing Style: batlike Tail Style: plain Skin Color: emerald green Hair Style: long and flowing Hair Color: strawberry blond Features: two upward-pointing horns Special Skills: did not use due to age She truly is a classic gargoule. She's a hatchling (possibly about a year old as she and the rest of her rookery are mobile) so even though the chart says she has an average build, it won't be apparent for a while. Emerald green skin with batlike wings (darker over-wings and lighter under-wings), she has long flowing strawberry blonde hair that's shaded more towards pink (though it may lighten as she grows), with two upturned horns at her temples. I added a few small brow protrusions and gave her ears a double point (thought it looked neat) to complete the look. I put her in a simple off-white tunic dress. Both of her ears are pierced and she wears small gold hoop earrings and a gold anklet on her left ankle. I named her Hollyhock because she has the same coloring as the hollyhocks at work. She's sleeping at the moment, but when she's awake she's a real sweetheart, not half as much trouble as some of her siblings. She tends to be rather shy and quiet. She's eager to please and likes to 'help' her rookery parents. |
