FANG AND WING: 2003 UPDATE
INTRODUCTION
This file is an update to Fang and Wing, the Gargoyles D20 game which appeared in the December 2001 Avalon Mists.
In this installment, we have for your viewing pleasure...
The Clan Warrior Core Class - An airborne variant fighter, the Clan Warrior is the backbone of any clan and the 'typical' gargoyle character class.
The Rogue Gargoyle Prestige Class - The lonely and the strays, Rogue Gargoyles scurry about in the shadows, hiding from all.
Plus eleven extra feats and a new spell to fill this file up.
All of which goes some way to rounding out the current edition nicely, but...
Where to from here?
So I thought, why not ask? What would you like to see? Adventures? Villains? Characters from the series? Prestige Classes? Notes for the use of Gargoyles in other Campaign worlds? More Magic Items and Equipment? Anything else?
As usual, Feedback would be gratefully received and can be sent to pbroeder@wave.co.nz or leave a message addressed to Jonathan in the S8 comment room. I lurk there, but I'll see it.
Many thanks, Jonathan

Bonus feat |
Bonus Feats: At 1st level, the Clan Warrior gets a bonus feat in addition to the feat that any 1st-level character gets. The clan warrior gains an additional bonus feat at 2nd level and every two levels thereafter (4th, 6th, 8th, etc.). These bonus feats must be drawn from the following list:
Ambidexterity, Blind-Fight, Combat Reflexes, Dodge (Mobility, Spring Attack), Exotic Weapon Proficiency*, Expertise (Improved Disarm, Improved Trip, Whirlwind Attack), Flyby Attack, Great Roar, Improved Critical*, Improved Initiative, Improved Unarmed Strike (Deflect Arrows, Stunning Fist), Kick, Multi-Attack, Plummet, Power Attack (Cleave, Improved Bull Rush, Sunder, Great Cleave), Shielding Wings, Skin of Stone, Slam, Snatch, Stall, Swoop, Tail Slap, Two-Weapon Fighting (Improved Two-Weapon Fighting), Weapon Finesse*, Weapon Focus*, Weapon Specialization*, Wing Buffet, Wingover.
Some of the bonus feats available to a clan warrior cannot be acquired until the clan warrior has gained one or more prerequisite feats; these feats are listed parenthetically after the prerequisite feat. A clan warrior can select feats marked with an asterisk (*) more than once, but it must be for a different weapon each time. A clan warrior must still meet all prerequisites for a feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums.
Weapon Specialization: On achieving 4th level or higher, as a feat the clan warrior may take Weapon Specialization. Weapon Specialization adds a +2 damage bonus with a chosen weapon. The clan warrior must have Weapon Focus with that weapon to take Weapon Specialization. If the weapon is a ranged weapon, the damage bonus only applies if the target is within 30 feet, because only at that range can the clan warrior strike precisely enough to hit more effectively. The clan warrior may take this feat as a bonus feat or as a regular one.
Rogue Gargoyle Prestige Class
"Ah, are you a wee babe, to cry at a few scratches? 'Twas probably nothin' more than a rogue gargoyle lookin' for food."
- Gillecomgain's Father
Exiled and clanless, rogue gargoyles hide in the shadows, living like beasts, never knowing if this is their last dawn approaching.
Some of them are the scattered survivors of obliterated clans, others have been exiled for horrific crimes. Some have never known the safety of a clan, having hatched in the wild or born as the children of rogue gargoyles.
Rogue gargoyles live in wild places that humans and other gargoyles ignore. They survive by raiding and theft, and are almost always loners.
Hit Dice: D8

Feats
Feat Descriptors: the Following feats use two new descriptors -
Gargoyle: These feats are only available to Gargoyles and certain other races.
Modern: Modern feats are abilities currently available only to characters in the modern era.
Agile Wings (Gargoyle)
The Character has trained extensively to gain the most manuverability possible from his wings
Prerequisite: Wings, Dex 15+
Benefit: The Character's manuvervability class is raised by one
Normal: The Character's manuverability score is unchanged
Special: This feat may be taken only once.
Egg trained Sorcerer [Gargoyle]
Your rookery mother sensed your potential as a sorcerer and worked subtle magics on your egg to enhance your power.
Prerequisite: Gargoyle
Benefit: For the purpose of determining Bonus spells and Save DC's, treat your Charisma as 2 points higher than it actually is. When angry, your eyes do not glow red or white, but burn with a dancing witchfire.
Special: You may only select this feat as a beginning character. You do not need any levels of sorcerer to select this feat.
Face of the Devil (Gargoyle)
Through long practice you can terrify an opponent with a single glance.
Prerequisite: Intimidate Skill rank 10+, Cha 13+
Benefit: Once per combat, as a free action, you may make an Intimidate check. Any creature with half or fewer HD than you must make a Will save (DC equal to the Intimidate check result) or suffer a -2 morale penalty to all attacks for the encounter's duration or until you flee or are defeated.
Hardy [General]
You are known for your exceptional Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom.
Prerequisite: Dex 13+, Con 13+, Wis 13+
Benefit: You gain a +1 bonus to all Fortitude, Reflex and Will saves.

Improved Pounce [Gargoyle]
When using a pounce attack, either through a feat or an innate ability, a gargoyle beast may attempt a free grapple attack against its target. Using the force of its attack and its sheer weight, the beast leaps on its foe, tears into him with its claws and bite, and uses its momentum to knock him to the ground in a tangle of arms, legs, and claws.
Prerequisite: Pounce special attack or feat.
Benefit: When using the pounce maneuver, either through a special ability or via the Pounce feat, the attacker may make a grapple attack that does not draw an attack of opportunity as if the gargoyle beast had the improved grab ability. In order to gain this attack, the pouncing gargoyle beast must hit with at least one of its standard attacks.
Normal: A gargoyle beast that can pounce may only take a full attack action or may attempt to grapple, not both.
Military Service [Modern]
You served in the Armed forces, training extensively with weapons suitable for use on the battlefield.
Benefit: You are proficient with the assault rifle and either the bayonet or the hand axe.
Pounce [Gargoyle]
With a great leap to attack, a beast can unleash the full fury of its claws and fangs while throwing itself into the fray.
Prerequisite: Gargoyle Beast.
Benefit: During the first round of combat, a gargoyle with this feat may move then use a standard action to make a full attack. Note that this feat may be used if the move action is used to charge.

Single Minded [General]
You are known for your determination and stubbornness. You are not easily distracted from the task at hand.
Benefit: You gain a +1 bonus to Will saves and a +2 bonus to concentration checks.
Special: This feat may only be taken once.
Skill Emphasis [General]
Choose a skill, such as Move Silently. You have a special knack with that skill.
Benefit: You get a +3 bonus on all skill checks with that skill.
Special: You can gain this skill multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat it applies to a new skill. This feat replaces Skill Focus
Slayer [General]
You are trained in the best methods of fighting your chosen racial enemy.
Benefit: When fighting your chosen racial enemy you gain a +1 competence bonus on damage rolls on melee attacks and on ranged attacks at up to 30ft, and you act as is you had the Improved Critical feat for the weapon you are using. This benefit does not stack with the Improved Critical feat.
Special: May be taken more than once, but each choice applies to a different race.
Swift Wings (Gargoyle)
You can 'flap' your wings to gain extra speed.
Prerequisite: Wings, Strength 15+
Benefit: The Character's Air speed is increased by +20
Special: This feat may be taken only once
Spell : Slashing Wings
(Evocation - Force)
Level: Sor2/Wiz2
Components: V, S
Range: Personal
Effect: Magical weapon of force
Casting Time: 1 action
Duration: 1 round per level
Target: You
Save: None
Spell Resistance: Yes
A Blade of pure force forms in front of each of the character's wings and is used as a giant slashing weapon. Slashing Wings deal 1d8 hit points of damage per successful Touch attack, plus any bonus granted by feats (such as Weapon focus) or combat actions (such as Charge), with the same threat range and critical modifiers as the character's actual wings. These blades strike as a spell rather than as a weapon, so, foe example, it can strike incorporeal creatures.
If the attacked creature has Spell Resistance, this is checked the first time the Slashing wings strike. If successfully resisted, the spell ends, if not, no further Spell Resistance checks are needed for attacks against that creature for the duration of the spell.
