As announced at the 7th Annual Gathering of the Gargoyles Convention in New York City, the site for the 8th Annual Gathering of the Gargoyles will be held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, from August 6th to 8th, 2004. The staff has already shown their stamina and determination by releasing their convention website in record time. (http://www.gatheringofthegargoyles.com)

This convention is indeed unique, for it is the first convention to take place outside the United States. The staff's website will include instructions on travelling to Canada, things to do and places to visit in Montreal, information on currency rates, and what convention goers should bring with them when traveling to Canada.

Another unique addition to this convention is that the mascot the staff has chosen features a gargoyle beast! (Whose name will be decided in the convention's annual 'Name the Mascot' Contest.) The mascot tradition for the Gathering Convention began at the 3rd Annual Gathering of the Gargoyles in Dallas, Texas and has continued ever since. This is the first time though that a convention staff has chosen a gargoyle beast to represent them as a mascot! The mascot's colours are taken from the Quebec flag, and his horn pattern mimics the fleur de lys symbol.

The convention will have the traditional banquet, which will only be $40(US) this year, and which will include a fancy five-course meal! Other convention activities will include the normal slew of panels, special con activities for kids, and a costume masquerade ball. The convention will continue to follow a newer convention tradition, which began on 2000 in Orlando, Florida, which is a casual outing to an amusement park after the convention. (Park fees not included in convention fees.) The amusement park for this year will be La Ronde. The park is built on an artificial island next to Montreal and is member of the Six Flags family. The park's website is located at http://www.laronde.com/en.

2004 will also be the 10th anniversary of when Gargoyles first aired on TV. (October 24th, 1994) The Gargoyles DVD is also supposed to be released this year as well. Greg Weisman asked fans at the G2003 convention to continue their support of the show and to support the convention either by attending or spreading the word about its existence. The staff already has Gathering convention flyers available for distribution and will be happy to send the files to fans wishing to 'spread the word' while convention hopping for the rest of this summer.

Greg has also made a personal request, urging fans who attended the Gathering 2003 to post Gathering journals to S8's popular 'Ask Greg' forum. He wants to be able to show Disney Execs the response! So do what you can! Even if it's just "I had a great time!" At the very least, it's showing there still is support for the show.

The staff for G2004:
Congratulations and good luck to the convention staff with planning for the next year!
