(The camera sweeps across the skyline of a starry New
York night. Music swells. The camera pans more slowly as it
continues, finally focusing on an empty rooftop. A sound of
fingers snapping in unison is heard. Suddenly, the TRIO
drop out of the sky and begin to strut across the rooftop.
They are wearing leather jackets and are snapping their
talons in time to the music.)

(The TRIO laugh and clap each other on the back. Suddenly a
helicopter appears in the sky. XANATOS and the PACK
(pre-upgrade) swing down from cables and begin to attack the Gargs.
All are unarmed, and the fight seems remarkably
ballet-like and well choreographed. The tide of battle tips
in the humans’ favor, when suddenly DEMONA and ANGELA,
with BRONX, dive out of the sky and rescue their fellow Gargs.
The scuffle now seems pretty evenly matched. The fight
ranges all over the Garg’s territory, over rooftops and down to
the streets. Suddenly a sound like a thunderclap is heard.
OBERON, TITANIA, and PUCK appear.)
OBERON
Stop! Oberon commands it!
(All the combatants freeze magically. OBERON walks up to DEMONA)
OBERON
Is this how you repay us for restoring your clan to flesh? By
fighting in the streets?
DEMONA
These humans are invading our turf!
OBERON
Silence!
(He approaches XANATOS.)
OBERON
And you…Must you possess everything you desire, like a selfish child?
These gargoyles are new to the city, and this is
how you welcome them?
(XANATOS opens his mouth to speak)
OBERON
Silence! Oberon speaks! Well, my good lady Titania, what
shall we do with these mortal ruffians?
TITANIA
I think, my lord, that they should make peace.
OBERON
Ah, an excellent suggestion. We are holding a ball at our court
in Avalon tonight. You will all be in attendance, and there
you will make your peace with one another. We will have no more
fighting in the streets. So Oberon commands…You
have three hours to make yourselves presentable for the ball.
(In a flash of light, OBERON and TITANIA disappear. PUCK remains.)
PUCK
(to the humans)
You heard him! Move along now, don’t dawdle. Got to get
ready for the ball…
(Grumbling, the humans get back into their helicopter and head off
toward the Eyrie building. PUCK watches until they are
out of sight, then, satisfied there will be no more trouble, disappears.)
DEMONA
That arrogant fool! If only he knew how much we’ve had to endure
from that pompous human!
BROOKLYN
Yeah, he’s been after our turf since we arrived here.
DEMONA
All of this ends tonight! I’m issuing a challenge to Xanatos
and his gang. If those pathetic humans think they can push
around,
they’ve got another think coming…
BROOKLYN
But how will you get the message to him? Oberon’s flunkies will
be watching us.
DEMONA
(smirks)
We’ll talk tonight, at Oberon’s ridiculous ball.
LEXINGTON
But Avalon’s neutral territory!
DEMONA
Don’t worry. We’ll play nice…I’m only going to challenge him.
(BROOKLYN chuckles. BROADWAY and ANGELA high-five each other.)
DEMONA
And one more thing…I’m going to get Goliath to help us.
BROADWAY
Goliath?!
BROOKLYN
He abandoned us! He won’t help!
DEMONA
He will help! He is one of us! I know Goliath, and I know he
won’t turn his back on his clan in their hour of need. He’ll be
there. So everyone be in attendance tonight, on time. And
stand proud!

HUDSON
Gude night, lad.
(HUDSON leaves the store, flipping the sign to “Closed.” GOLIATH
continues cleaning up. After a few moments,
DEMONA taps on the window and he lets her in.)
GOLIATH
Demona! How have you been, rookery sister?
DEMONA
Goliath, the clan needs you. You must come to the ball on Avalon
later tonight. We are going to war with Xanatos and
his treacherous kind.
GOLIATH
I’m leaving those days behind me, Demona. It is time for me to
make my place in this world.
DEMONA
But the humans are invading our turf! We have to defend it!
Please Goliath, I know you have the heart of a warrior.
GOLIATH
(sighs)
I suppose, if the clan needs me…but don’t you ever get tired of it,
Demona? All the fighting?
DEMONA
I live for it! Don’t tell me you feel differently?
GOLIATH
But lately…I do.
DEMONA
And what brought on this change of heart?
GOLIATH
I can’t put my talon on it, exactly. It just feels like something
big is about to happen soon…Like something’s coming.

DEMONA
Ha! Sentimental nonsense. Just remember, Avalon, in two
hours.
GOLIATH

(DEMONA leaves and GOLIATH continues his chores, a far-off look on his face.)

out of trouble. I don’t want to have to bust my own brother.
FOX
Ah, ever the tough cop. There, your hair looks fabulous.
We’re gonna knock ‘em dead at Oberon’s shindig.
ELISA
(rolls her eyes)

(XANATOS enters. He kisses ELISA on the cheek; kisses FOX)
XANATOS
Ah, the two beautiful women in my life. My precious sister and
my ravishing wife. Elisa, I want you to be careful at this ball
tonight. I must warn you there will be a number of seedy characters
in attendance.
ELISA
Argh! You’re always so overprotective! Don’t worry.
I can take care of myself.
XANATOS
Well, we’d better be off. Wouldn’t want to keep Oberon waiting.
(Scene change: The ball on Avalon. Fay in brightly colored
costumes are milling about everywhere. On one side of the
party, the Gargs are gathered. On the opposite side, the humans
stand.)
WOLF
Grr…This is the last place on earth I want to be right now. And
to make matters worse, I have to wear this monkey suit…
HYENA
(laughs)
Look on the bright side…the snack bar is heavenly.
OBERON
Musicians! Strike up the music! Let there be dancing.
(All sweep into couples and began to dance. Several fay partner
up with gargoyles or humans, so everyone is
mixed up. FOX and XANATOS begin to dance. ELISA lingers
at the side, as does GOLIATH. From across the
room, their eyes meet, and they begin to move towards one another.
They reach each other and begin to dance.
Though they do not speak, their eyes say volumes. As the song
ends, they begin to kiss)
XANATOS
My sister!
(He hits GOLIATH and pulls ELISA away.)
XANTOS
Stay away from my sister, you monster!
ELISA
David, please! We were just--
XANATOS
No. Wolf, take Elisa home. Now.
(WOLF grabs ELISA and pulls her out of the ballroom. DEMONA snarls at XANATOS and moves towards him.)
OBERON
Stop! Enough of this petty rivalry! Oberon commands it!
DEMONA
(whisper)
This isn’t over, human.
XANATOS
(whisper)
Not by a long shot.
DEMONA
(whisper)
Will you meet for a war council later tonight? At Hudson’s malt
shop?
XANTOS
(whisper)
I’ll be there.
(The dancing begins again. GOLIATH wanders from the ballroom, heading outside to gaze at the stars.)

(she stands and begins to storm out. She stops just before
the door)
And I’d better not catch wind of any illegal activities you and your
new “friends” are involved in…Don’t think I wouldn’t
arrest you if you broke the law!
XANATOS
Break the law? Wouldn’t dream of it.
(exit ELISA, enter the PACK)
WOLF
*grumble grumble grumble*
XANATOS
What’s that?
WOLF
I said I’m sick of hangin’ out in this boring Ivory Tower…I want to
get back down on the street and get some action. I haven’t
shaken anyone down in weeks.
XANATOS
Wolf, without me , you’d be picked up by the cops in a week.
WOLF

malt shop. The Gargoyles want a war council.
HYENA
A war council? Why?
XANATOS
We’re going to finish this rivalry, once and for all. Winner
take all!
(ALL laugh)
(Scene change: ELISA’s room in the Eyrie building. She walks
out onto her balcony and stares at the moon.)
GOLIATH
(unseen)
Elisa?
ELISA
Who’s there?
(GOLIATH steps out of the shadows.)
GOLIATH
When I danced with you at the ball tonight-forgive me, but I had to
see you again.
ELISA
I thought I’d never see you again. My older brother is far too
overprotective….What’s your name?
GOLIATH
I am called Goliath.
ELISA
I’m Elisa.
GOLIATH

(He raises a hand to her hair.)

A rumble. No weapons. Just us against you, fighting like
true warriors. The losers forfeit their turf. Is this agreeable?
XANATOS
No weapons you say?
DEMONA
(narrows her eyes)

XANATOS

(The two gang leaders shake hands.)
XANATOS
The rumble will take place tomorrow night at midnight.
(the HUMANS pack up and go, the GARGS filter around the room. GOLIATH sits next to DEMONA)
GOLIATH
Are you sure this is wise Demona? Do we really need war with
these humans?
DEMONA
You are getting soft, Goliath. How else can we protect what’s
ours?
GOLIATH
There must be a better way….
(Scene change: ELISA’s balcony, shortly before sunrise. GOLIATH lands there.)
GOLIATH
Elisa? Elisa, are you there?
(enter ELISA, who embraces GOLIATH)
ELISA
Goliath, it’s almost dawn…you shouldn’t be here.
GOLIATH
Do you love me, Elisa?
ELISA
Of course I do.
GOLIATH

ELISA
I will. Now you’d better go. If you were caught here by
the sun, David would smash you.

(Scene change: The following day at the station house, just before
sunset. CHAVEZ, MATT BLUESTONE, and
other officers talk over coffee and doughnuts.)
CAPT. CHAVEZ
Hey, what’s with Maza today?
MORGAN
You got me. She seems pretty…perky, doesn’t she?
MATT
It’s starting to freak me out. She’s been walking around all
day with a dopey grin on her face. If I didn’t know her better, I’d
think she was going to break into song…
(Enter ELISA. She looks happier than any sane person should.)

Detective Maza, are you all right?
ELISA
What do you mean?

you to flesh.

Yeah, but what has he done for us lately?
PUCK
Am I hearing this right? Oberon gave you back your lives, and
you’re complaining?
BROADWAY
Yeah, well we’ve got plenty to complain about.

them off against one another. If Xanatos
agrees to this plan, our victory will be swift indeed. Goliath,
I would like you to be our champion.
(GOLIATH hangs his head)
(Scene change: The scenes switch back and forth to the GARGS and the HUMANS as they prepare for the rumble)

(Scene change: An abandoned warehouse near the docks; the place of
the rumble. The HUMANS filter in by one
side, the GARGS in another.)
XANATOS
I received your message, Demona. Who is your champion?
(GOLIATH steps forward)
XANATOS
Very well. I will be fighting for the humans.
(XANATOS removes his coat to reveal he is wearing an exosuit)
DEMONA
(hisses)
XANATOS
You never told me the dress code for this occasion Demona, so I improvised.
DEMONA
Treacherous human! Our deal is off!
(DEMONA pulls a laser rifle and aims it at XANATOS)
GOLIATH
No! Demona, stop! There must be no more fighting!
(It is too late. Both the GARGS and the HUMANS all have weapons pulled, but no one wants to fire first.)
ELISA
(off camera)
Stop!
(ELISA runs into the area, heading for GOLIATH. She has her gun pulled too)
XANATOS
Elisa!
(BROOKLYN trains his gun at ELISA. XANTOS sees this and fires
a warning shot at BROOKLYN. BROOKLYN
switches targets, aiming at XANATOS. He begins to pull the
trigger…)
ELISA
No!
(She shoots BROOKLYN. BROOKLYN falls, clutching his chest.)
DEMONA
You’ll pay for that human!
(She begins to fire at ELISA. GOLIATH tackles DEMONA, causing
her shot to go wild. It hits XANATOS. XANATOS
falls. ELISA rushes to his side.)
ELISA
David…David? No! He’s dead!
(the PACK has begun to flee the scene, as well as the GARGS.
DEMONA picks up BROOKLYN’s body and follows.
GOLIATH and ELISA remain.)
DEMONA
(over her shoulder)
I won’t forgive this, Goliath. And you, human…your life is mine.
ELISA
This can’t be happening…he can’t be dead, he can’t!
GOLIATH
I am so sorry Elisa. I did not mean…
(GOLIATH tries to embrace her. ELISA pushes him away.)
ELISA
If you hadn’t pushed Demona, he’d still be alive…my only brother.
GOLIATH
I did it to save you. I did not mean for this to happen.
I tried to stop them.
ELISA
(numbly)

(ELISA kisses her fingertips and presses them to her brother’s lips. ELISA stands and turns to GOLIATH)
ELISA
We’ve got to go. It isn’t safe for you here anymore.
GOLIATH
Elisa, what do you--?
ELISA

(Scene change: ELISA’s balcony.)
ELISA
What can we do now? No where is safe anymore…
GOLIATH
We’ve got to leave. But where can we go? How will we survive?

(GOLIATH glides off the balcony as dawn approaches. ELISA watches him glide out of view.)

(whirls around to see FOX in the entryway)

(Scene change: ELISA’s bedroom, close to sunset. ELISA wakes. FOX is standing by her bed.)

FOX
Now we’ll see how you like having your love torn from your hands.
ELISA
What do you mean?
FOX
Your monster must be rubble by now. I sent Wolf, Jackal, and
Hyena out to smash him.
ELISA
No!
(ELISA runs out of the room, going to search for GOLIATH.
A montage of shots showing ELISA running all around
the city, searching for GOLIATH. Finally she stops, panting, leaning
against a chain link fence. The sun has nearly
set. ELISA begins walking again, all hope and energy gone
from her face. Suddenly she sees something. She begins
to sprint, as the last rays of the sun fade. The camera pans
to ELISA’s POV: GOLIATH, waking from his stone sleep.)
ELISA
Goliath!
(She runs toward him)
You’re alive!
(GOLIATH stands just as ELISA rushes into his arms)
GOLIATH
Elisa? What is wrong?
ELISA
I thought I’d lost you…
GOLIATH
You will never lose me, Elisa.
ELISA
We leave tonight, right away.
GOLIATH
Yes, to make a fresh start….
ELISA
…To build our new life together
GOLIATH
Now and forever.
ELISA
I love you.
(ELISA and GOLIATH kiss)
(A sound of a gunshot is heard)
(GOLIATH’s eyes grow wide. He bring a hand up to see it covered in blood.)
GOLIATH
No!!!
(GOLIATH cradles ELISA’s body in his arms, we can see she has been
shot in the back)
ELISA
(weakly)
I love you….*
(GOLIATH weeps)
(The camera sweeps up to reveal Demona, with a gun in her hand.)
GOLIATH
You! How could you?!
DEMONA
She nearly killed one of our own, Goliath. I have had my revenge.
GOLIATH
And you have killed the one I love…
(GOLIATH’s eye glow white with rage.)
Now I will have my revenge
(thunderclap OBERON and TITANIA appear, with many FAY attendants.
The PACK and the rest of the GARGS are held by
them in chains.)
OBERON
STOP!
(OBERON waves his hand and GOLIATH and DEMONA freeze)
OBERON
Has this tragedy taught you nothing?
GOLIATH
Only hate…hate for those who destroyed our love.
TITANIA
But what of your love? Did not you learn anything from it?
(GOLIATH blinks and tears fall from his eyes.)
GOLIATH
Yes. I have loved. And now I have lost that love…but not
completely.
(GOLIATH picks up ELISA’s body.)
I will not give in to hate…if I do, I will be the one who kills that
last spark of love.
TITANIA
A truly wise answer. What will you do now?
GOLIATH
I will…say goodbye. After that…I cannot say.
(exit GOLIATH slowly, with ELISA’s body in his arms. Music swells, then fades, as the lights dim.)

(Yeah, the ending’s kind of a downer, huh? Well, that’s how it
ends; just think, if Shakespeare was writing this, they both would have
died.)
