"Of Whine & Noses" by Tina Price

One of the small gems of the Gargoyles Fandom, Tina Price has managed to make her imprint on fanfiction with her small series of stories. One story that stands out from the rest is this little tale of humor and romance called "Of Whine & Noses"... it's a funny, yet touching tale that involes the clan and Elisa after the inital epic of Tien's take on the clan taking on Demona, and winning (see the three part "Idenity Crisis" for more).

In "Of Whine...", Tina takes a small break from the action, and focuses on a side story development of Elisa's relationship, both with Goliath and with the Xanatos' family. During which, Goliah contracts a rather nasty flu cold, which forces him to be bed ridden at the Castle for a while. Eventually, this strain proves to be not natural, and it soon has the whole clan affected. The result ends in Elisa, Owen and the Xanatoses pitching in to care for the bed-ridden clan (intermixed with comedic and touching moments throughout the tale).

Some interesting twists are put in by Tina: one being the doctor that is brought in to see to Goliath at first is someone with familiar connections to Elisa (and I won't spoil the surprise here!). Second, is a msall segment of backstory that Tina tells of how Hudson grew up and became leader, and witnessed the birth of Goliath.

Overall, this is a great read, one of Tina's best pieces. A fun piece of fiction that sets the stage for some of her great work that follows. She's got a good grasp of the characters, and while it's clear she has a few pop influences (anime for one) she does know how to treat the canon cast well. If you're looking for something light to read from the archives, this is one you should definetely check out! - Stephen R. Sobotks Jr.
